About the Course
Biology (2021-2022)

This high school biology course is designed to be your high school student’s first science course. It is a college-prep high school biology course, it will set the stage for success in their homeschool years in high school, prepare them for college-level courses, and give them an understanding of the basic biological world that surrounds them each day of their lives so that they can appreciate the real-world relevance of a scientific inquiry.

In this course there is:

• A heavy emphasis on the vocabulary of biology so that students are properly prepared to have scientific discussions
• A strong background in the scientific method so that students are trained for laboratory sciences in other high school science courses, as well as university studies
• Labs that cover experimentation, microscopy, and dissection
• Introduction to classification, biochemistry, cellular biology, molecular and Mendelian genetics, evolution, ecosystems, and much more

Materials needed:   Exploring Creation with Biology Textbook, 2nd edition,  https://www.apologia.com/biology/135-biology-2nd-edition-textbook-only.html

About Sarah

Hi. My name is Sarah Kochert. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Masters of Science in Exercise Physiology. I have 2 daughters and have been homeschooling since the oldest was born. I have been with Cornerstone for 8 years, serving as the elementary program director and a board member for five of those years. I have taught a range of subjects in classes from K-12 as an instructor with Cornerstone. In my very little spare time, I enjoy reading, gardening, hiking and being active.
