About the Course
This class is recommended for Latin students who have completed Latina Christiana I or as a beginner Latin program for students in 5th grade through highschool. The class will emphasize Latin grammar, focusing on the verbal system as well as Latin adjectives. The student will also increase substantially his/her vocabulary (185 words). The course will include a weekly review for assistance in memorization. We will also achieve memorization of vocabulary and grammatical forms through the different senses (e.g., singing/speaking, listening, writing, seeing, etc.). The speed by which we work through the lessons will be determined by the ability of the students.
Textbooks required: First Form Student Text, First Form Student Workbook, First Form Quizzes and Tests
Optional, but highly recommended: Pronunciation CD, Flashcards

Learning Latin helps students learn to think critically and to express their thoughts well. Latin helps students grow in their understanding of the way language works (including English vocabulary and grammar). I will lecture and encourage student participation (both comments and questions). I will give weekly assignments and will expect the assignments to be handed in on time. Further, over the course of the year, I will test the students' knowledge of the material through regularly written quizzes and a few written tests. We will try to have "fun" in the classroom, although the objective is to have fun while learning. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you might have. I look forward to meeting your students this year! Blessings, Sarah
