About the Course
Creative Writing is a class designed for students seeking to develop their writing skills in a safe, stress-free environment. Class time will be a blend of teaching, projects, and collaborative learning as students share assignments for encouragement and feedback. Students will learn and practice macro level skills such as developing plot, characters, and setting along and micro level skills like imagery, word choice, and poetry. Because this class is an elective and is often taken alongside other English classes, the homework is designed to be manageable, with about 1-3 hours needed to complete assignments depending on the week.
Stay tuned for further information regarding textbook requirements. Students will need a few supplies: Pencils, a standard size notebook or three ring binder with lined paper, and a small pocket-sized notebook.
This will be offered in the fall semester and will cost $125 with plans to continue in the spring for another $125 ($250 total).
Christina is excited for the opportunity to continue teaching at Cornerstone Classical School! She has graduated from Boyce College with an Associates in Biblical and Theological Studies and is continuing her education at Liberty University Online, studying English and Writing: Christian Literature. She has been teaching a variety of classes at Cornerstone for five years. She attended Weber School of Dance in Jeffersonville for eight years where she studied ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, and lyrical dance. At Weber, she also served as an assistant instructor. Along with this, Christina has partnered with Elevate Dance Ministry as an assistant instructor for a dance outreach at Hope Place in Louisville, Kentucky. Besides her love for dance, she also has a passion for creative writing, having studied at Cornerstone for five years. In spring 2021, she was blessed to win the Home For His Glory Young Authors Contest. Christina is thrilled for the chance to continue teaching dance and to begin teaching creative writing at Cornerstone.
In her free time, Christina enjoys wandering the outdoors (as long as there are no snakes:), doodling characters, crafting stories, playing piano, writing songs, and choreographing dances.
Christina is looking forward to showing others how to glorify God and share his love through the arts!
